![]() Changing any of these can change pressure. The important things to watch are bullet manufacturer, overall length, brand of brass, and primer. Changing components can dramatically change pressure. Handloaders have to be careful to make sure their loads stay within safe pressure limits, so it is important to follow published load data closely. The data included standard-pressure and +P loads. The load data I used was from reliable sources, including Hodgdon, Hornady, Lyman, Speer, VihtaVuori, and Western Powders. I tested several high-pressure and high-speed handloads to see what type of performance they produced. The principal concern is whether the chamber pressure is within prescribed safe limits. Some of us like to wring all the speed we can from a cartridge, and handloading gives us the opportunity to do this. NATO has its own 9mm ammunition specification with a pressure limit of 36,500 psi. All we know is that it’s loaded to pressure higher than 38,500 psi. There is also a +P+ load, but there is no prescribed limit for it. A higher pressure limit, referred to as +P (plus pressure), is 38,500 psi. The standard maximum average pressure limit established by SAAMI is 35,000 psi. The 9mm is versatile and can be loaded to higher pressures for more speed and power for situations that call for it. 45 ACP when fired from the same-length barrel. It is a potent cartridge for its size, producing as much muzzle energy as the. It is used by the military and law enforcement and is well suited for personal defense, casual shooting, and many competitive shooting sports. It's also made over seas so that should be a indicator that it's sub par.The 9mm Luger is the most popular centerfire pistol round in the world. No mention of a stepped case and that it can/will separate or that due to reduced case volume it runs the risk of higher pressures with stand powder loads. Maxxtech 9mm Ammunition PTGB9MMB 115 Grain Full Metal Jacket 50 rounds You get a 1150 fps projectile made with a new reloadable brass case. This 9mm load is a 115 grain, full metal jacket bullet, which is boxer primed. It’s not only reliable but it’s premium ammo at an affordable price. I don't buy factory ammo either unless it's 22 or 12 gauge so now I'm a little paranoid after seeing this. I just checked the 300 + 9mm cases I sorted and nothing like this crud is there.Īre they doing this with any other brass? how about pistol brass? A step like that will KB a rifle no problem.Īnyone see a factory box to see if there is mention of the step and that this crap is no good for reloading. Just be careful, especially with an open bolt. I’m surprised you haven’t ran into this yet, consider yourself lucky. I’m not sure when it started but it’s been longer than two years. You bc an easily spot them with enough light. Since then I’m always looking down into the case on the 1050’s second station (de-capping). ![]() Approximately a year ago I must have missed one of the cases while reloading and it seperated in my friend’s AR pistol. Probably two years ago my neighbor who’s a doctor gave me a lot of mixed 9mm brass and while inspecting it notice a lot had the stepped cases and decided to not use them. To keep my cost down on ammo I don’t buy brass and rarely buy ammo (except 22LR) I usually have friends give me brass or when I shoot with people I do the legwork and police the range. I load it until lost or unusable.īut I will be checking for this stuff on any new cases given to me or picked up off the ground. I only reload and have yet to ever see this but most of my brass is high quality Mfg once fired stuff. I've never heard of this brand of ammo other then this thread ever seen a case formed this way. ![]()
